Create or edit a hero block

What is a hero block?

A hero block is a game object that contains a hero object. A game object is an item in a scene. When a scene is open, its game objects appear in the Hierarchy Tab. (To open this tab, click Window > Hierarchy)

Create a hero block with no hero object attached to it:

In the Unity Toolbar, click HeroKit > Create Hero Block (GameObject).

In the Hierarchy Tab, right-click and select HeroKit > Hero Block.

Create a hero block manually:

  1. Create a game object in the Hierarchy Tab (or select one that already exists).
  2. Make sure the Inspector Tab is open.
  3. Click on the game object. The contents of the game object appear in the Inspector Tab.
  4. In the Inspector Tab, click Add Component.
  5. Type Hero Kit Object and select the matching component.
  6. And that's it! Your game object is now a hero block.

In the Unity Toolbar, click HeroKit > Create Hero Block (GameObject + Hero Object).

In the Hierarchy Tab, right-click and select HeroKit > Hero Block (+Hero Object).

Notes:

When you create a hero block this way, a new hero object is created and attached to the hero block. The hero object is saved here:

The top folder will use the name of your project. In the example above, My HeroKit Game is the name of the project I created in Unity.

You do not need to keep your hero objects in this specific folder. You can put them anywhere with one qualification: They must exist inside an Asset/Resources directory. 

Create a hero block with an existing hero object attached to it:

Drag a hero object from the Project Tab into the Inspector Tab.

Edit a hero block:

Select a hero block in the Hierarchy tab and open the Inspector tab.

Assign a hero object to a hero block:

Spoiler

Select a hero block in the Hierarchy tab and open the Inspector. Assign a hero object to the Hero Object field. There are a few ways to do this.

Get the hero object using the Assets menu:
