    RPG MAKER XP HELP

I found this site to be extremely helpful: Tigerseye's RMXP Tutorials It starts off simple and direct before jumping into more complex situations.

Thanks. Both of those birds are very gorgeous, especially the snowy owl. He always turns a lot of heads. I volunteer (and serve on the board of directors) at a center that rehabilitates injured raptors and also does educational programs for children. It's loads of fun working with these creatures - they have such personality.

    Why Te'jal is so "in"

ROFL. I was only joking; my intent wasn't to turn the thread into an Edward-bashing party.

    Why Te'jal is so "in"

How can Tei'jal be considered "in"? She doesn't even sparkle...

    Gay Marriage?

KTC said: "Seriously, there's no such thing as traditional marriage, even in the US (gasp!). Marriage has been changing with the human race ever since we began. So this argument is moot." I was referring to a marriage between a man and a woman. But you are correct; what is "traditional" in this day and age? And of course it's a moot argument, but don't tell THEM that. It's never made that much sense to me anyway. I don't hear people saying, "Some people don't believe in God; therefore, my own beliefs are less valid." It's bizarre reasoning.

The tags are the same (BB and UBB). But when I tried to put an image in, I just got the dreaded "red X."

What is this world turning into??

A meteroite the size of the moon isn't a meteroite...it's a freaking moon! LOL.

    Post Your Picture!

OK, for some odd reason, my photos aren't showing up. I'm no stranger to UBB code...wonder why it's not working? Anyway, just click on the links. Rage holding a VERY large bird.... - this poor guy was found with his foot caught in a coyote trap. We were unable to release him, and sent him to a facility in Kansas City, KS. Rage holding not quite as large a bird - Tundra has not always been this good. I worked hard to get him to sit on my fist. He got good enough that we took him on TV in December. Me & my sweetie, 2 years ago in London - Ah, what a trip. Such a beautiful place. I wanna go back! Most of my pictures don't actually contain me, per se. They generally contain large birds, large buildings, or my dog doing silly things. ETA: fixed links.

    Gay Marriage?

I, myself, don't understand what the fuss is all about. So they want to get married. Big hairy deal. Let 'em. It doesn't offend me and it certainly doesn't "diminish" any marriage vow that I would make. I've heard the argument that allowing gays to marry makes the traditional (heterosexual) vows mean less. Eh? What? How? Why? If anything, the rampant divorce and affair rate should devalue the marriage committment, but you don't hear that listed as a reason. As a comedian once said (I wish I could remember who): Gays want to marry? Sure! Why should they not have the right to be miserable like the rest of us?

Where are you when you post on AM...

At home or work. Right now I'm at work. I like to check Amaranthia.com for updates, hoping that someday Lars will have a spell that will make all the paperwork on my desk go *poof!*

Aveyondgirl: Gosh, I don't think I ever would have figured your name out. *giggle* And you all are right, it WAS funny. And fun. An even better story was the one about the time I was attacked by a sandhill crane. But that's a story for a different thread.

    User Names

I have a funny story behind mine. "Rage" is my nickname in real life, but not because I have an anger management problem or anything. My real name is "Rachel" and I don't mind it, but people tend to shorten it to "Rach" which drives me up a wall. My mother still does this, but what can you do about mothers? So, anyway, this place I used to work, everybody called me "Rach" - and it drove me up the wall. In the employee lounge was this ancient vending machine - I swear that Moses himself had probably bought a candy bar from it at one point. It was old. And malevolent. Pure evil. This thing would start to dispense your product, and then it would get stuck between the front glass and the dispenser rack. Nothing like having a high-stress day and wanting some chocolate only to find it STUCK. One day, my friend Jenn (AKA "Monkey" - everybody had weird nicknames) wound up with a stuck Butterfinger. I was having a bad day, so I walked up to the machine, grabbed it by the top corners and gave it a good, hard shove. I think I yelled something like YAAAAHHHH! in the process as well. Anyway, the candy bar dropped down. Jenn said, "Wow, thanks!" In the doorway were two other coworkers: Kujo and Cupcake (I did say that everybody had weird nicknames, right?). Cupcake said, "Hey, look at that! Rach Against the Machine!" Rach Against the Machine turned into the Rage Against the Candy Machine, which eventually got shortened to "The Rage." I spent another eight months or so freeing candy bars from that thing before I found a slightly more sedate job. Of course, now when one of my coworkers leaves me a 5 minute voicemail listing the vacation days she took six months ago, I get a little wistful for a large object to shake. LOL.

    error when getting into rowboat

Reflexive does have Build C, and I was very careful to uninstall completely first before reinstalling. But how's this for bizarre: the uninstall apparently deleted my saved games but did NOT delete they key that indicated that I'd already purchased the game from Reflexive (normally you have to re-activate it with the key). So I'm having to restart. I won't be able to confirm that it's working now until I get back to that part of the game. Ah, well. From now on, I'm buying my games direct from Aramanthia. For one, it's less hassle and two, well, I'm a greedy little thing and won't wait for AV3 to be released elsewhere. LOL.

    error when getting into rowboat

Hmm...interesting. Well, I do know that the build I had wasn't build C anyway (no mouse control), so if I had turned the speed crystal off, I probably would have wound up erroring out or something. And it wasn't BFG, it was Reflexive. So ignore me on that one. In fact, you should probably ignore everything I say today; it's been a long week and I don't know what I'm saying or doing half the time. Thanks for the info, though.

    error when getting into rowboat

I have a similar problem - I didn't get an error message, but once I purchase the rowboat, then suddenly I really DID become God because I could walk on water and everything! Seriously: I just started wandering all over the map. Not all of the entrances to new worlds would let me in either. Problem I have is: I discovered Aveyond 1 before I discovered Amaranthia, and so I had purchased the game from Bigfish Games. (Knucklehead that I am, I forgot this very important detail until I tried to locate my registration key for AV1 and remembered...ah, shoot, I bought it elsewhere.) I just wanted to give you all the laughable image of Rhen walking on water for no apparent reason. LOL. I'll head over to BFG and see if the version they offer now is C. (The one I had was B; it had no mouse support.)

    Introduce Yourself (remade)

Well, I don't really need a "Welcome to Aramanthia, pull up a chair, check out the games" sort of welcome...I've been the Ultimate Lurker for the past several years now - plenty of reading, but not a whole lot in the way of posting (OK, what, 3 posts to my credit since the current guilding system went live? Yeah, I need to start yapping a bit more). Anyway, I figured it was high time I actually made some form of public appearance here, and as such, the introduction thread is certainly on the list of "must-visits." My name is "Rage" - and I go by that in lots of different places, both online and in real life. I have a desk job and perform pretty much all of the IT functions for a small office of the most un-technologically-inclined people on the face of the planet. This means that I can play Aveyond while at work and nobody notices. I'm fairly certain that none of my coworkers have so much as heard of the game, and even if they had, wouldn't have the foggiest how to play it. In my spare time, I chase large wild birds around fields in an attempt to both: 1) capture said bird to examine its injury, and 2) avoid having my eyeballs forcibly removed from their sockets by said bird. It's a lot more fun than trying to explain to one of my coworkers what a "default printer" is. So if you're ever somewhere online and you see somebody by the handle of "Rage" talking about some eagle that tried to land on her head, chances are it's probably me. Also in my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing. I'm currently working on editing my most recent novel, which is still untitled, but I'm calling "Sareya's Story" for lack of a more imaginative name. Maybe one of these days I'll figure out how RPG Maker XP works and will create a game as well. Who knows. All of this was pretty much my way of saying: HI! I'm here now! Pass the chips! And a bandaid...darned bird got me.
  21. *peeks into forum* Chimera's suggestion of choosing the type of battle format (turn based vs real time) reminds me of the old Might & Magic series put out by 3D0. My ex-bf freaking loved those games and, by osmosis, I kinda got hooked. One thing I loved from some of the later versions was the Archomage card game. If it was possible to have something like that playable in the Aveyond game, that would be too cool for words. I really need to spend more time here in the forums. I've been "around" since shortly before AV2 came out, but I only have a couple of posts to my credit... *slinks out*
  22. Not that I'm terribly worried about Aveyond giving me a virus, but I thought you'd want to know this happened. Earlier this year I had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall Windows. I never got around to reinstalling Aveyond until just today. When I started the install process, my antivirus, avast!, popped up the following warning: Sign of Win32:Trojan-gen {Other} has been found in... basically, it didn't like something about the Aveyond install. I ignored the warning and proceeded with the install, but I thought I'd alert you. Others may be experiencing something similar. ETA: Ok, now this is weird. I attempted to run Aveyond, and avast! shot up another warning. I ignored it again and now am told that I don't have the correct permissions. The game will not run. Very strange.
  23. I did the search, but Bryce's suggestions probably won't help me: I'm not using Macafee for some reason fiddling with my AV settings didn't make a difference - the game would not run no matter what I did. Plus, I downloaded the aveyond install today; according to a post by amaranth, the issue was resolved on the 12th. My install should not have triggered the problem.
