  1. That reminds of a problem that a new MMO was having when it first started, I can't remember which one. I saw a news report about it. Since there wasn't much to do, the male players would hit on and harass the female avatars, since they assumed the player was female. I could see a female not wanting to play as a female avatar so she wouldn't get harassed. Also, it wasn't usually for a male players to do a bait-and-switch prank. They would use a female avatar to attracted the male players, wait for them to start hitting on the avatar, and then switch to a male avatar and watch how quickly the guys would leave. I must admit it was funny to see.
  2. Banning either way is ridiculous. It really says a lot about the prejudices of the people who made the law. Not to mention the fact that some games are set up so you have to play the opposite gender depending on the character class you use.
  3. I don't know, there are a lot of similarities.... *runs away before I get attacked*
  4. I'm not too sure about Spook either. He came across as slightly egotistical in the interview. I do have some suspicions about him but I'll have to wait until the game to find out if they are true.

    Emoticons (:>o (Newsletter)

I came across these emoticons a few weeks ago when I was looking for something else. They were published in the U.S. magazine, Puck in 1881. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Emoticons_Puck_1881_with_Text.png

    Whisper of a Rose

I feel like I'm just repeating myself...the cut-scene is a bug that hasn't been fixed and there's no way past it.

    Stumble Upon

I came across that several months ago. It's great to find news stuff on the internet but I had to remove it since I have more than enough distractions right now.

    Busy Floppy drive

@Paralel: It's not that unusual to still see floppy drives even if they are not used much. You can even get external floppy drives for computers that don't have an internal one.

To go or not to go?

Ultimately, it's up to you but like iPink said, if you think going will negatively affect your exam, don't go. Personally, I wouldn't go until after the exam. I find it hard to relax on a vacation when I know I have something I really need to do and I would hate to take an exam like that twice, but that's just me. If really depends on how much you want to go to Las Vegas and how prepared you feel for the exam.

    When Did Coldness Become Cool?

I never liked the popularity games that people played in grade school and high school. I found it to be silly and petty. Most of the time, people are cold or rude to others to try to make themselves feel better. It really is sad when you think about it.
  16. The first thing that drew me to the site was the games and looking for help. Eventually, I joined the site because the people seemed really friendly and I was interested in some of the topics that were being discussed. I really enjoyed spending time here so I stayed. Nowadays, I still visit but I don't actively post as much as I used to and there are some parts of the site that I don't bother with anymore. This is partly because I have had some issues that I needed to deal with in real life so I don't have a lot of time to visit and also I'm not finding discussions that interest me. I know I could try to start some discussions but right now I don't time to do that and it takes more than one person to have a discussion.

I need Symbols for my book

If you want symbols that are meaningful for the book that you are writing, it would be helpful to know what the book is about. Using symbols just for the sake of using symbols won't make much sense otherwise. For example, the symbols that are used in the Scarlet Letter tie in with the main themes of the storyline and are relevant for the the time period in which the story is set.

    Winter Movies

I'm not sure which one I will vote for. I've only seen the trailer for two of them, 2012 and Disney's A Christmas Carol, and I can't say that I'm looking forward to either of them. I really don't like end-of-the-world type movies so I'm not going to bother with 2012. And with Disney's A Christmas Carol, I might go to see it but I've seen so many versions of it (my all-time favorite version is the Muppet's).

Yummy Drink Factory ~ Your Input

Personally, I liked YDF. It's one of the only TM games that I do like but the reason I like it probably the reason that others don't. It requires you to think and memorize things rather than mindless clicking.

    Avvies and Siggies (remade)

@Ryo: It's definitely unique. I prefer the slow one, the other two give me a headache if I look at them too long.
  21. LOL, that one is too true. Here's a sample of coffee related quotes that I like: Coffee is the best thing to douse the sunrise with. - Drew Sirtors Men should be like coffee, hot sweet and strong. - Dutch Proverb A morning without coffee is like sleep. - Anonymous I believe humans get a lot done, not because we’re smart, but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee. - Flash Rosenberg Sleep is a symptom of caffeine deprivation. - Anonymous Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee. - Stephanie Piro COFFEE.SYS Not Found: User startup disabled. - Anonymous

    Honest Criticism

To me, people become defensive because they don't know how to take criticism. Like ljspence said, people have trouble not taking things personally. I know it can be very hard to do, I have to deal with criticism a lot in my work, both giving and receiving it and it can be hard to separate yourself from your work when you put a lot of effort into it. But learning how to take criticism without getting upset is an important skill to learn. Also, people tend to forget that criticism doesn't necessarily mean only pointing out what's bad. To critique something means to evaluate or analyze it and that includes pointing out both the good things and the bad things.

    Honest Criticism

I've noticed the same thing and I tend to avoid threads that have turned into that. Those types of comments don't require much thought and really don't contribute to any type of discussion. It would be nice to see more constructive criticism which requires more thought from the poster. Another thing that I have noticed is that when people do post any type of criticism, they tend to apology about it. I noticed that a lot when the AV3 games came out. It's really unfortunate that people feel like they can't state what they don't like about something without feeling like they have to apology for their opinion. That's not a healthy environment. Giving someone criticism doesn't mean that you're being mean and attacking the person. As long as you're polite about it, it shouldn't be a problem. But then again, there are people who think that they have to be a jerk to give criticism and people who aren't receptive of it.

Rating added to games (Family, Teen)

Personally, I think the two rating is fine. If you use too many categories, it gets difficult to know which label to use since different people have different opinions of what is appropriate and not appropriate.
