  1. So the 1995 BBC version is much better than the 2005 version? I've only seen the 2005 version, it's good but could be better. I really want to see it the BBC version but I'm having trouble finding the BBC version in any stores here. I'll probably have to order it online.
  2. @KittyKatz: It got up to 40 C when I was in Alice Spring. I like warmer weather but that was way too hot for me especially since I was just coming from winter weather that got down to -40 ~ -50 C. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, by the way.

    Swine Flu

@Stardale: The possible diseases spread by mosquitoes would depend on where you live. Here, West Nile is the main concern, not malaria or dengue hemorrhage fever.

    Swine Flu

@Devin_PerryFan: Influenza isn't spread by mosquitoes.
  5. @KittyKatz: I was recently in Australia for two weeks. I'd love to go back sometime and see more of it. I spent most of my time in Adelaide. It was okay but I wasn't particularly fond of it, too many people. I also went Alice Springs. I liked it there even if it was hot. I prefer smaller towns.

    Swine Flu

Last I saw, they're estimating that it would be 4~6 months for vaccine to come out. @Asiunia: Considering the situation, the health organizations are working fast and effectively (though, I'm sure some would say otherwise). They're gathering information about it as fast as they can, making preparations, and trying to keep the public informed. They can't make everything happen overnight.

    Need help

or better yet, stand on your head... Yea, I know that wasn't very helpful but I couldn't resist.
  8. I know others have said this, but I liked Te'ijal since she was one of the strongest characters and sometimes that last one standing in a tough fight. I could always count on her to take out a tough enemy. By the way, has anyone noticed that Te'ijal's name is spelled wrong in the topic title? It's missing the 'i'.
  9. @starrlena: Welcome to the site. And don't be embarrassed about joining because of the age. There's actually a wide range of ages here. I'm 27 and there are others who are much older than me.

    Swine Flu

I was wondering how long it would be before someone commented on the swine flu. Are you referring to the 1918 Spanish influenza pandemic? That was avian flu, not swine flu. From what I understand, there *might* be some genetic connection with swine flu but for the most part it's considered an avian flu. Here's a recent article, I just found about that one. That one didn't turn into the mass epidemic that everyone feared at the time. Swine flu 'debacle' of 1976 is recalled At this point, it's too early to tell if the current outbreak will be bad. My take on it, hope for the best but prepare for the worst without causing mass hysteria. Though, it is a little worrisome that most of the deaths in Mexico were apparently healthy young adults. That's not the usual pattern for influenza mortality.
  11. Wow, the graphics look really good. I look forward to trying it out.

    Avvies and Siggies

LOL, I really like the quote on your siggie, goldgall.
  13. There are still a lot of countries that consider homosexuality illegal and still have harsh penalties so there's a long way to go to make marriage legal all over. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_by_country_or_territory
  14. @KTC: After 13 years of public school, 4 years of college, 5 years of graduate school and the one more year that I thought I had turning into more than that, I believe I can say I'm sick of school
  15. Hi Rage. It's nice to see you posting rather than lurking. I did that for a long time. It's a lot more fun being active around here.
  16. My current hope is that things go a little more smoothly than last month...*blah* so sick of school
  17. I really like Chimera's suggestion about a system in which party members can battle each other and a means of transportation that requires a quest to put together. (@Chimera: It's nice to see you around again)
  18. @mila26: You do know that Amanda is working a non-Aveyond game as well? She hasn't said much about it yet but here's a blog where she mentions it. It's an adventure game rather than an rpg. http://www.amaranthia.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=93
  19. Like several others have said, I prefer to buy games directly from the developer rather than a portal even if I have to pay a little more. More than once I've bought a game from a portal only to find out later that there are updates and patches available from the game website that aren't compatible with the portal version. If it was a game that I really liked, I repurchased the game from the developer so I could get the updates. The ability to get updates is worth the extra money. Plus I like to support indie game developers. On a side note, I'm becoming disappointed with the game portals, especially Big Fish Games. It's getting to the point that all the games look the same. I rarely see anything unique on that site. I'm more likely to find games that I like and aren't the same old with the indie game developers but it's can be hard to find them.
  20. I would have to agree with aislingyngaio that it is okay for preventing fatal illnesses and disfigurement is okay but beyond that it's a big NO. I see it as a form of eugenics.
  21. A second game? Are you going to give us any hints about what it is?
  22. For me, Jane Austin's work is one of the few romance stories that I actually like. I love the humor that she puts into them.
  23. The only Jane Austin book that I've read is Emma (I really liked that one) but I've seen movies based on all her books. I adore the movies and have seen all of them more than once. Her writing style can be hard to read but it's reflective of the time period especially all the detail that she goes into.
  24. I would say that the kid is at fault. She was told not to hit the dog and seemed to know that she shouldn't since she would hit the dog when no one was looking. As for the other scenario, the owner the does not have their dog on a leash would be at fault.
  25. What about a story about the Druids?
