    Three the Hard Way

Thanks for the info and that sucks! I didn't even use the scroll and that essence yet. Okay now I'm going to give up on this game. Writing just isn't strong or interesting enough to keep me playing. Looks like the game creator didn't think through the implementation of certain events either. I'm not a fan of moments like these, where they're introduced without any warning. It's tedious if you've to replay certain stages. The plot sure can be interesting. There're tons of twists and factors in this game but there is no common thread to really link it all. Also, I'm now in the final act and the only thing I really know after all this is that "everyone's making use of one another". Also, you can throw in a lot of characters and factors but without introducing them properly, the writing just goes out of balance too. There's also not enough development for some of the main cast and rather, it feels like I'm playing a game about certain concepts and point of views about politics and other themes. I did enjoy the removal of grinding and I really liked that the battles are linked to upgrading of stats. Also, many of the puzzles were fun. Oh well, thanks for your help!

Hi, sorry for double-posting. Here's a question: Benson took away all my inventory after that fight in the desert. Will I get it all back?

    Three the Hard Way

Hi, has anyone encountered this issue before? When escaping from the attack on Burlington, I get stuck in front of the fire sprite and get continuously attacked by the soldiers and can't move until my entire party is killed off. Even then, the game refuses to end and I've to press Alt + F4 to quit. Is there any way to avoid this? If not, I'm giving up on this game as it's the 3rd to 4th time this has occurred. It's really annoying, an absolute time waster and since I can't save anywhere, I see no point in redoing the entire "escape route". Update: issue solved. Not sure how or why but it might have been 'cos I installed the RTP packs.
  4. This game has very nice music and the story about the Quintessence seems quite interesting but the gameplay... well, it's fun but kinda frustrating at the same time. I think I'll probably give up on this game soon since my characters died way too many times and I'm way too old for this. Edit: Btw, the dialogue and plot could use some improvement. I don't want to be mean but quite a bit of it seems fairly "meh" so far. The plot device at least seems pretty interesting but other than that, some of the plot opens some questions for me: a) If you had a lead alchemist on a top-secret issue, where are the security and the means to ensure his silence or even obedience to you? I find it hard to believe the ruler of the district/state would simply bestow a project to someone whom you've only met, with blind trust. And that there were no safeguards or even backup of the research. Errr... is it me but aren't there supposed to be more guards and patrols at night, in the capital or around certain areas? c) Serin's(or whatever her name is) sister didn't even notice anything wrong with her? Either they must be almost strangers or the impersonation was so perfect that she never noticed? But how do you imitate someone whom you've only met or even observed for a while? Is the princess really skilled in the art of imitation? So, enough of negative comments: d) I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The music is quite good and I liked the various sprites and tilesets created. They made the world look much more vibrant and interesting. And it felt a little like the Divinity games. e) The Quintessence idea is quite interesting and even moreso are its' effects. I haven't quite figured out what they are yet but it's fascinating. f) So, old school feel, 3 slots, huh? Just like Diablo. Of course, that doesn't stop me from making tons of backups and still, I like it. g) Interesting abilities or magic skills there: being able to change into another form. h) The battle system. Okay, it's frustrating but starting to become kinda fun. I just have to make it past that darn snake! Final edit: Having played up to Chapter 6, I think the only annoying technical issue is the way the game keeps switching keyboard controls like A for switching team members during a battle, A for using Guard alphabets, Q and W to switch in between members. Thankfully it doesn't keep happening but I think the developers should really consider creating a fixed set of keys and assigned functions for the sake of consistency and not switch the letters around all the time. After all, the more mini-games and puzzles you have, the messier the controls will get over time.

Yep... Western chess with the bishops, the knights and the pawns. Still, even though I finished the game, I found myself fighting Alexander and Castor a few more times. The music is just so cool and it's so challenging for Alex. Say, I wonder if there're any indie games which're just as well-written as LS. I'm waiting for Exit Fate to go through playtesting and polishing, which will likely take till end of 2008 or beginning of 2009 to be done.

Bah... lol. I don't know if I actually want to try and go for it. Say, do you know why the Black Mausoleum had a King and Queen in there? Were they formerly King and Queen of the Rosehart Empire?

Thanks everyone for all your help! ;D I finally beat the game(okay, not the final final battle with that accursed planetary thingy). Does anyone know what the track number or title is for the end battle with Omega Castor?

Thank you so much! That worked out really well. Finally got into the Black Masoleum.

Thanks, and I managed to find the place. The problem now is that I seem to be stuck or something. I just can't seem to activate the tome. @#$@#$ Really? I need to activate them in said order? Uh oh... I hope I didn't botch that up 'cos I am not going to redo the last 10 to 20 levels, just for 1 mistake I made. Just to check: is it within the circled area? http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/3066/lost2pc5.jpg[/img]

Bah... I went there and it looks like I'd already defeated that Tome. I wish there was a list of which tomes was at which location. I've got to each of the places btw... but I can't seem to activate the remaining tomes. Yeah, I only have 3 and this sucks... I've been walking around for hours.

    Last Scenario

Ahhh... that's a good strategy. Say, does anyone know where the 4th tome is? I believe I've consulted the walkthrough but I'm still getting lost! :/ Hmmm... there're 5 tomes altogether, right? I've got : a)strength fortitude c) knowledge

Right, thanks folks. Btw, one thing: Vivione is so annoying. @#$#@$ I guess I gotta Mindblow them and steal all their MP. But it's still annoying, nonetheless.

Right, thank you! It worked... say, btw... how do you get Sarawati to move to Lawshire city? I've beat her at least 3 times in Nolan Vale yet she hasn't made a move yet.

Thanks but I was told in the walkthrough that I'd need a "Water elemental hex card" for the hex game and nowhere is this card mentioned a second time in the guide. And so, I assumed it was the "missing hex card" on Page 2 that I can't find: http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/866/missinghexcard1rh7.jpg[/img] And I'm actually hoping to get this card and also beat Sarawati before I proceed with the rest of the plot. And sorry, I can't help you with your questions, I'm afraid. Thanks for your help, though. Dee

I've played this game quite a bit and really enjoyed the plot. It's nicely done instead of the loopholes, black and white definitions and stereotypes you find in many RPGs(excepting some of the newer or better ones). And I also really liked the small touches of strategy within the plot: for once, the armies really do know some strategies of war instead of reading from The "Dummy's Guide for General wannabes". Edit: Hi, I've got a few qns here: (highlight to read) a) Anyone remembers where the "water elementals" are located? I realise I don't have any Hex cards of those. [d]Does anyone know how to protect against the boss in First Seal? Obviously Talisman doesn't work and he knocks out my party members with a 3000 damage blow. Nasty! [/d](Nevermind: solved it.) aislingyngaio: Merged posts
