*How fast can you travel? Regular human speed? *Good to know about the glance of fear. I'm going to stretch that a little bit though, to see how far it can go. If a person isn't scared of Nathan's illusory form, would they be affected? What if the opponent is mechanical or otherwise lacks the capacity to feel fear? What if the opponent is blind? The mage replicates as soon as Nathan shoves the mana stone into it's mouth. A duplicate mage finishes the incantation and banishes the summon until the next sunrise. *We're going to deal with this summon a little later. I'm going to focus on your skills for now. The mage closes its mouth around the gem and prepares to seal its mouth over Nathan's hand. *Now, a little about the gem. Does it need to be attached to Nathan for it to work? Can others use it? Is there a limit to its power? How much mana can it hold?

I don't buy that. Yes, I agree that death makes life precious, but that doesn't mean that immortality is demeaning to life. If you can starve to death, get shot, or hit by a car, then life is still precious regardless of whether or not you age.
  3. Kipani, I was about to reply to this with all of these points about why they're wrong. However, that's not what you need. This is your child, not theirs. You can distinguish common sense from idiocy, and you can consult others when you're unsure. However, despite the fact that they are extremely nosy, I think that they really do want what's best. I'm unsure about your actual family situation, but if you and your boyfriend are planning to get married, then it would be best to try to deal with the situation in an amiable and mutually respectful way. Keep in mind, these two individuals mean a lot to your boyfriend and he definitely doesn't want to be put in the middle. You have what it takes to be the better woman even though they may not.

*The asbestos would cling pretty tightly when sprayed on, so it won't fall off if the sword is swung. However, just a slight amount of scraping would get rid of it. *I want to know more about the glance of fear, but it won't affect the mirrored spellcaster. Nathan would be looking at his own glance of fear. How about this? The Steam elemental turns into a typical Human Thug. The Human Thug is equipped with leather trousers and a large wooden club. He gives Nathan an intimidating look. The Mirrored Mage continues his incantation.

*So the light summon isn't made of light. It's ethereal and its attacks are light-based. Very good The water soldier gets split by the fireball into two Steam elementals. One Steam Elemental turns into an Asbestos Elemental. The mirrored dome turns into a mirrored Generic Spellcaster. The Asbestos Elemental fires an adhesive coating of asbestos on Nathan's sword. The Mirrored Generic Spellcaster begins to cast a Disenchantment spell aimed at banishing the summon. The Steam Elemental heats itself well above boiling temperatures and prepares to attack Nathan.

    Deserve to die?

*You* didn't offend me. Your statement did. The debate on the death penalty is a staple for many tournaments. To blatantly make the statement that it is a deterrent for crime is in the same vein as saying that homosexuals are unnatural in a gay marriage debate. It's common knowledge that other animals demonstrate homosexuality just as how it's common knowledge that the death penalty is not a deterrent for crime. I jumped on it because I found it outrageous. That point is moot. The murder rates and crime rates are based on last year's numbers. If the death penalty really were a deterrent, it would only have to be abolished for a year or two before the numbers shot up, wouldn't it? Now please, address the issues I brought up in my previous post. I'm anxious to hear your rebuttal.

    Sexual Identity

The only times I even acknowledged the fact that KTC is a girl were when I was just flirting outrageously with her. Other than that, she thinks too much like me for me to believe she's not a guy as well.

The population was a mix of all sexual orientations. The group they actually meant to study was the asexual group. The control group was made up of self-designated heterosexuals, bisexuals, and homosexuals. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20857185 It's not a strong study, as you can see from the sample size. However, it does warrant further investigation. Why is it that self-labeled "asexual" women respond biologically to erotic stimuli just as strongly if not even stronger than non-asexual women, when they psychologically report otherwise? My guess is that asexuality is not the same as other sexual orientations. There is a biological component to those. For asexuality, I think it's psychological, and this study leans toward the same conclusion.

Radiation therapy isn't an alternative. It's part of the treatment. Cancer isn't something you really get to pick and choose with. You kind of need to throw everything and the kitchen sink at it However, I have to admit that chemotherapy really does suck. It's terrible for the patients, it's terrible for the doctors, nurses, and pharmacists. It's terrible for the families of the patients especially. Ahhh, no they wouldn't. Regretfully, I left out the liquid cancers in my excitement *waves* We have to calculate body surface area, age, weight, creatinine clearance, etc. In school, we had to memorize FOLFOX and FOLFIRI dosing for colo-rectal cancer. The worst part is that there are so many established regimens with different dosing @.@ One combination of drugs has a totally different dosing regimen from another.

Education- The purpose of High School

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_authority What is this obsession you have with dichotomizing high school education as it is and no high school education at all? I never said that students should stop going to highschool, but that highschool needs to be changed. Please pay attention. My focus is on the quality of education. Your statistics only reflect the formality of a degree. It is not. However, that wasn't your argument. Your argument was "90% of what we learn in high school isn't worthless because lots of people disagree". *THAT* is a fallacy. Things that are easy aren't necessarily useful. A poll doesn't show whether something is right or wrong unless the argument is whether not not something is popular. What type of taxes, bills, and errands involve imaginary numbers, conical sections, limits, and trigonometrical proofs? You must have some very complicated spending habits. Strawman fallacy. Did I ever say we were talking specifically about students who have no will to study ANYTHING AT ALL? Or did I mention students who don't feel like studying things they consider irrelevant to their interests? *Hint*, it's the latter. Stawman fallacy. Since when did I say the pianist doesn't need to practice piano? I said that a pianist doesn't need to know Earth science. Stop twisting my arguments just because yours are failing. If he hates Earth science, why would he decide to become an environmentalist? Also, should we also make ventriloquism class, basket weaving class, and introduction to goat milking mandatory classes, in case they want to do that? Even people who *aren't* fixed on their goals will benefit from more freedom in choosing what they want to learn than being forced to waste their time in something they despise. I'm sorry, but this is an extremely idealistic point of view. Students are FORCED to LEARN. They are FORCED to attend classes, FORCED to take exams, FORCED to study, and FORCED to earn passing marks, else they are FORCED to do it over and over again until they do. And as part of their resistance, they dump out everything they learned after finals. In one year, the student forgets over half of what he or she was tested on in a class the year before. Then the confusion is definitely on your end. You've done nothing but attempt to argue that a highschool diploma has some benefit (and judging by your statistics, not much, only a $7000 difference yearly). A highschool diploma is not indicative of a quality highschool education. Your highschool GPA is a reflection of how well you knew the material during the exam. Highschool is structured in a way that makes it nearly impossible to retain more than 1 out of every 10 things you learn in any class. But before we continue, answer me these questions: 1. Have you attended highschool? 2. Have you attended college?

There's a study on self-labeled asexual women done in Vancouver that tried to answer that very question. The study was very crude in its design, but very effective. Essentially, women of various self-designated sexual orientations were tested for subjective and objective arousal response when shown erotic and neutral video. I only have access to the abstract here at home, but I'll check it at work tomorrow. The conclusion however, is very interesting. In terms of "genital-subjective response", there was no difference between asexual, homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual. However, in terms of reported arousal and affect, self-described asexuals declared significantly decreased results. In other words...a mind/body split in terms of wanting sex.

That's long been ruled out It's not possible because cancer cells tend not to have markers. There are a variety of cancer drugs that attempt to do so, but they are all specific for certain types of cancer. And don't forget good ol' radiation therapy! In the words of my nurse educator: "We either cut it out of you, burn it out of you, or poison it out of you." And radiation therapy, yes XD That's the absolute best part. The clinical problem with metastasis is the race against time. When the tumor metastasizes, we don't know where it goes and when we do, it's already too late. Anti-angiogenesis drugs, when they become more refined (we have some already) will be effective even at latter stage metastatic disease. Let's say the pancreatic tumor metastasizes to the lung, and we catch it because of respiratory symptoms and a chest X-ray. We start aggressive chemotherapy and antiangiogenics. This halts any further metastasis. The only difference in this scenario is that instead of one frozen tumor to hack away at, we have two. When time is no longer an issue, it doesn't matter how many tumors there are, or the extent of metastasis. So long as they cannot grow, we can beat it. Even pancreatic cancer, which has the worst prognosis of all cancers.

Actually, KTC, cancer control *is* a cancer cure. With chemotherapy, we try to do as much damage to the tumor as quickly possible before it spreads. If we can make it so that it doesn't grow, then it can't spread. If it can't grow or spread, then we finally have time on our side. We can slowly chip away at cancer at a leisurely pace. We can even reduce the strength of chemotherapy drugs so that we can eliminate cancers slowly without too many of the nasty side effects. In other words, anti-angiogenesis therapy, when combined with chemotherapy and surgery, *IS* the cure for cancer.

I remember you posting your picture a couple years ago when I was still active. Based on that, I'd say your sexual indifference is a major disappointment to single men everywhere >.> I wouldn't be so quick to make a conclusion. Psychology tends to be at the root of things just as often as Biology. Nerds don't tend to be socially ostracized as children because they are academically oriented. Nerds tend to be academically oriented because they are socially ostracized. People seek validation and self-worth. For kids who get ostracized, they psychologically tune out the negative feelings of being denied that validation and seek it elsewhere. Grades become an objective indicator, their source of validation. As they progress, this defense mechanism builds upon itself and eventually, they *IDENTIFY* as people who don't care about social validation, so long as they can rely on their objectivity, their intelligence, to validate them as individuals of achievement. I don't mean to be rude or assuming, but I think that your asexuality isn't biological. I think it is an outgrowth of your experiences. Perhaps you witnessed the negative effects of your peers having relationships too early on. From that, you developed this slight bias against love and sex as it pertains to your wants in life. Then, after reading about asexuality, this baseless, self-applied label began to solidify even more strongly. Then, as you get older, your mind selectively strengthens that label by focusing on the instances where you surprisingly show no arousal, and subconsciously suppress the trickles of arousal that get through.

That makes two of us! Actually, there are really clever mechanisms for fighting cancer. Cancers may have different methods of developing, but they almost all have the same method of damaging the body. Have you come across talk of "anti-angiogenesis"? It's very popular. It was even aired on an episode of Dr. Oz.
