Anthro art - creepy art or something nice

Recommended Posts

Though I find Anthro art disturbing, Robin Hood/Catwoman/Batman is an exception. It isn’t creepy like the rest of the Anthro art stuff I’ve seen.

Sometimes any kind of drawing/artwork, if not done in a disconcerting way, to the eyes it wouldn’t be as different as it’s usually made out to be.

ex: - the drawing you did on the first page was cute. But not all Anthro artwork turn out like that.

@lovinlife: but catwoman/batman don't count as anthros. They are 100% human.

anthros are animals with human characteristics, or humans with animal characteristics. Batman/catwoman just dress up as their namesakes, but they don't have any animal characteristics.

‘humans with animal characteristics.’ – Pretty much what Catwoman is? And I was talking ‘bout The Catwoman in Batman cuz there are lots of other versions of Catwoman.

Able to leap from roof to roof perfectly, moves about like a cat, possesses feline understanding, is a professional pugilist, also got stealth, ain’t 100% human, you know ;p She has got cat knack/characteristics. In fact, I think Catwoman was an Anthro outline, not a creepy one though.

@lovinlife: no, catwoman is dressed up like a cat. But she doesn't have any literal cat parts built into her body like a tail, claws, snout, or cat ears. leaping from roof to roof and all that can be explained by better than average abilities and a lot of training. I mean, look at batman - he can give catwoman a run for her money (and has done it many times) and that's due to hardcore training. ;)

anthros are people with literally animal parts. this would be a 'catwoman' (more like cat girl)

or this and this. See the difference?

At the end of the day catwoman is still 100% human.

Anthros on the other hand are clearly not 100% human.

wow. this is still on-going. haha!

As i'm not on the violent edge anymore, i'll post again. hope this is fine.

to klaus:

as i said at the last part of my first post, just let those people who can't accept your art be. as an artist you have to learn how to accept all comments, good and bad, and use them to either improve your work or improve your self. if you don't accept the fact that not everybody likes your art, you'll just drive yourself crazy. there's no pleasing EVERYBODY. remember that.

as a side note,

i don't think catwoman is an anthro... she was catwoman because her abilities are like that of a cat. :D

@ktc, So even though she evidently possesses cat/animal abilities, she ain’t an Anthro draft? I see.

Though the precise meaning of anthropomorphism is, an animal/inanimate object having human characteristics, so I guess that puts down roots.

@lovinlife: or what you think is cat like abilities. To me, she's just a really good gymnast with some fighting skills to boot. I mean, any of the bat family (batgirl, batman especially, robin, nightwing, bat woman) can do exactly what she's doing. ;)

I don't see why people think it is creepy or weird, I think it's pretty cool.

Fur-piled for example is pretty awesome, and can be read by everyone and by all ages. i can understand that straight people don't like to read it though, even if they don't have problems with gays.

@agas: Only if the disney classics are behaving like disney classics. Soon as people drawing them having sex or anything like that it gets into the hate territory.

Okay, KTC, that is overboard, don't you think? I mean, sex? I mean some artists do that, but doesn't mean that all of them do that. And I know it's not a pleasant thing. I, sincerely, heard the word "sex" waaaaay too many times by now, and it started to getting irritating. Most people these days just that know to do, really.

Warning: high usage of the word 'sex' in this post so if the word makes you queasy, please skip

@kenneth: But that's where a lot of the hating starts from: Sex lol!

The stuff that gives anthros a bad name generally involve some form of sex be it furry sex, tentacle sex, diaper sex, animal/human sex, etc.

While this might only be the minority of furry pictures, they are generally the most notorious also.

Sex-ifying the classics like disney characters = auto "YOU RAPED MY CHILDHOOD" hate territory :P

Note to others: tvtroping+curiosity+free time= egads! my eyes! my brain! *fetal position* D:

@Kenneth: LOL you seem to be missing the point all the time. KTC's just trying to say that the perverts' stuff are so notorious that they give the whole genre a bad name and people already think so badly about it they don't bother looking for the good ones because they assume the whole genre is populated by perverted stuff.

@kenneth: heh, some? the hentai {graphic picture in this wikipedia article. viewer discretion is advised} genre isn't THAT small XD

Sides, even if pictures are sex scenes, it doesn't mean it can't be 'creative/beautiful'. It just requires a lot of brain bleach and fortitude to shift through the 98% porn trash to find decent stuff {a bit like shifting through fanfic}. Doesn't make you or the artist necessarily perverted in to look/draw porn/hentai. I'd show some stuff to show what I mean, but that'd be against the rules lol!

@agas: i know. but you're essentially comparing apples and oranges. Disney characters are classics. As long as classics are doing classical things, its fine. It's the non classical stuff that gets people's panties twisted.

Bit of a double standard going on, but them are the breaks.

@KTC: Well, the original post was talking about all anthros in general, so I thought I'd mention the Disney characters because they're technically anthros too. I'm aware that the stuff that roused the debates are totally something else :S
