Indra Report post Posted June 13, 2013 This is where I'm gonna put the doodles that I make and my little pixel things. http://i.imgur.com/fTBWsWN.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/hwrMn10.jpg[/img] Yeah, I'm not very good at this. They're not very realistic, but whatever. I need to start somewhere. And they say practice makes you better at something. Okay so I just decided in gonna update this in other posts and here just for the heck of it. Whee . . . I'm posting have the pictures here and the explanations AND pictures in posts below. Have some Rhen X Lars stuff :loving: I gotta love my pixels. R/L avatar/signature set I made: http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/3040/95758047.png[/img] http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/6537/sigsh.png[/img] Random little thing: http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/157/rlav.gif[/img] Here's a teapot! http://i.imgur.com/cCXHBjw.jpg[/img] The top row in a creepy twin sprite I'm working on. More details later. http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/7761/5zqq.png[/img]
Meroko Report post Posted June 13, 2013 Cute, Indra, cute! =3 Especially the first pic; looks like a Japanese girl or something xD And are those two girls the same? I used to draw nose like this too...but it was yeaaars ago
Indra Report post Posted June 13, 2013 Lol. Yeah, I am no good at noses and all my faces look the same. Faces aren't really my thing. I'm better at drawing still life things. And I'm wayyy better with clay and 3D stuff like that. I made this giraffe teapot . . . I'll post a picture later.
SilverDragon Report post Posted June 13, 2013 I think drawing with a pen is more difficult than a pencil sketch/digital drawing, so nice work there, Indra!
Indra Report post Posted June 13, 2013 Thanks SD! That's very nice when I use a pen, the lines are pretty rough/sketchy because I draw pretty quickly. I didn't use pencils for these because when I use pencils, I get upset over little details, erase too much, and make a mess of the page. And I've never been good with digital drawing, so I use my favorite blue ballpoint pen XD
SilverDragon Report post Posted June 13, 2013 Thats exactly like how I drew when I started drawing... I generally draw with a pen in the school during a class...
Indra Report post Posted June 13, 2013 I don't really draw much so I need more practice. But that's okay. All I really do is doodle during class (don't we all?) and make random little sketches like that. Everyone on AM are such good artists . . . You all make me jealous
Indra Report post Posted June 13, 2013 Have some Rhen X Lars stuff, cause R/L is my favorite Aveyond couple of ever :loving: http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/3040/95758047.png[/img] http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/6537/sigsh.png[/img] That's a set . . . I made the picture of them kissing a while ago, then I made it into a sprite set thingy and imported it into RMXP. I made a map, which is the background, then added everyone and took a screenshot. Did that make any sense to anyone? http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/157/rlav.gif[/img] THIS TOOK ME FOREVER. I drove myself insane doing this. Okay, it was an hour, but still. That's an hour of my life that I'll never get back! But it was an hour well spent, in my opinion. I'm very proud of it
Lindrah Report post Posted June 14, 2013 Nice pixel works (the last one is super cute). As for the drawings, you should try and play around more with the shape of the face, hair, eyes etc. so that the girls/guys you draw won't all look the same. Also, you can try using simple tutorials for drawing human faces using construction lines (really helps when you begin).
Indra Report post Posted June 14, 2013 Thanks Lindrah! As for the faces, it's been a while since I've doodled those. And I've looked up some tutorial things, but I'm not improving much. I think when I get better, I'll post the better drawings. Meanwhile, have a giraffe teapot! Yeah, the colors are quite wonky, but I didn't know they would look like that when I glazed it http://i.imgur.com/cCXHBjw.jpg[/img] EDIT: It can hold water, but you can't really make tea in it
SilverDragon Report post Posted June 15, 2013 I like the pixel stuff. That teapot is awesome! how did you make it?
Indra Report post Posted June 15, 2013 Wellll . . . Okay. That teapot was hard So for the base/body, here's what I did: I took newspaper, bundled it up into a sort of oval shape, then taped it all together. Then, I took clay, rolled it out until it was about a quarter inch thick, and covered the newspaper with it. For the neck: I rolled out little clay snakes (know what I mean?) and coiled them up and up. Then I took my finger and smoothed out all the coils on the outside. For the head: This was complicated so I'll do my best here. I took a really thick piece of yarn and formed the head around it. This is so water could travel up through the neck, then into the space left by the yarn, and out through the mouth. I can try to explain that better if it doesn't make sense. Then I tool all those parts and connected them with lots of tiny clay snakes. And lots of rubbing. Lots and lots. Once that was all formed, I did the spots. I rolled out a piece of clay, cut the spots out, and attached them to the rest. Through all of this, the clay was wet, so I let it dry out for a few days. Then I glazed it. The glaze just looks like paint at first. I put the yellowish color on first, and then then the brown. I had no idea what the colors would look like once the teapot was done, so I just had to cross my fingers and hope XD Finally, it got baked in the kiln. It's this giant super hot thing that bakes it . . . I guess. So in there the yarn burned out of the teapot's mouth ((oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I pulled out the newspaper already)). So yeah . . . Then it was done. Wah. That was long. Ooookay. Now I bet I'll look back and find like 20 typos
daeva_agas Report post Posted June 15, 2013 I like that giraffe pot. It doesn't look wonky, don't worry. It just looks very cute and cartoony. Re pixel sprite: Well, it's only an hour. I usually spend at least 2 hours on my sprite siggie/avvie sets because I customize the backgrounds with Photoshop and that's when I don't customize the pixels (my Gyen/Mel kissing sprite took, like, 5-ish hours to make just because I want it to be so perfect and detailed and blah). You waste less time than I do. I'm just that pathetic when it comes to fandoms I care about
Indra Report post Posted June 15, 2013 @d_a: Cartoony . . . I never thought of it that way I like it. As for the pixels . . . I guess an hour isn't that long. I would have spent more time on it, but I don't have very much patience in me. I like to make things look good, but I got tired of copying and pasting Lars' sprite over and over XD then I couldn't get Rhen's blush to look right so I got angry and stopped working for a while . . .
daeva_agas Report post Posted June 15, 2013 Why would you need to copy-paste the sprite over and over? The animation didn't have that many frames in it.
Indra Report post Posted June 16, 2013 Because all I use is MS Paint and Photoscape. I don't have great software. And it's been a while since I did something like that, so I kinda forgot how I used do that kind of stuff and then I couldn't figure stuff out . . . Sorry, I don't really have a good answer to the question. I'm just not very advanced.
Indra Report post Posted June 17, 2013 A current work in progress: http://i.imgur.com/zKEDHGF.jpg[/img] I think that's an Empress of Germany's Bird of Paradise . . . But I'm not sure. It's some kind of bird of paradise. I just found the picture on Google. Man, those birds are awesome. So I've been working on this for a while now. Minus the giant break I took, I think I've worked on it feels be separate days (yeah, I'm slow). The colors are driving me insane. This thing is darn hard to color. I have to zoom in so close on that image . . . So yeah. It's only half finished. I'm still posting it here because I felt like sharing and I still have a ways to go. Ah, animals. I like drawing you so much more than faces XD
Indra Report post Posted June 21, 2013 So, here's something, and some explanation: I'm working on an idea for a game (no details yet, I'm still working on the villain XD). And two of the characters are those classic creepy twins that walk around together all weird-like. So I'm working on a sprite for them, and here's the top row of it: http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/7761/5zqq.png[/img] First I did an almost entire recolor of the girl's sprite to make her match her brother (I took the colors for her hair and dress from the boy's sprite). Then I put them next to each other, which sounds easy, but you try it. It's pretty hard. Because if you don't line them up properly they walk all messed up across the screen. I'm going to post the rest of the sprite as I go. This is hard for me :S 25% of my brain cells just died people. And yes, I realize they're not very creepy looking. Whatever. Lindrah Report post Posted June 22, 2013 I've no idea what the model for your drawing looks like, but your WIP looks great. I imagine the actual colors of the bird are brighter than that, but it doesn't really matter. Looking forward to seeing the finished version No much to say about your sprite, except that it looks fine. But yeah you're right, they don't look creepy at all xD. Maybe a paler skin tone and wall-eyes (kids with pale skin and wall-eyes are always scary, lol) ? Don't know...
Indra Report post Posted June 22, 2013 @Lindrah: Yeah, paler skin would help, but I am so frustrated with that sprite I'm not working on it for a while XD As for the bird, the colors look dull because I took it in poor lighting with a crummy camera. I'll try to get a better picture when it's all the way finished, and I'll also post the picture I'm using as a reference. Thanks for your comments! Indra Report post Posted June 24, 2013 We got a beautiful sunset here in Wisconsin. It doesn't look as good in a picture, but it looks lovely in person. http://i.imgur.com/7grvidI.jpg[/img] I swear cameras want to get revenge on me ever since I broke one when I was little. They hate me :S
Indra Report post Posted June 26, 2013 Here's a bud vase I made for my mom in, what was it... Sixth(?) grade? Somewhere around there. And its still in use! And it has some pretty flowers http://i.imgur.com/ihkB6y9.jpg[/img]
SilverDragon Report post Posted June 27, 2013 That vase is pretty. ^^ It looks like an inverted mushroom lol.
Indra Report post Posted June 27, 2013 Thanks! It does look like an upside down mushroom There's that stem thing that you put the flowers in, and there's a hole that it gets the water through. Oh my god, I'm soooo bad at describing things!
Morella Report post Posted August 27, 2013 That giraffe is very very cute!!! The vase too! :goodjob:
