Three the Hard Way

@IvanaDeRossi -

Oh? I must say that I suck at such RPG elements. Its thanks to the people here that I managed to complete the game at all. :lol:

Anyway, what do the rest think?

Of course not! :) If you keep walking around the rooms without solving the puzzle, the monks will eventually show up and offer to let you fight them to pass through without having to solve the puzzle. If you opt to fight the monks, you'll recieve a Zubulon bracelet but if you manage to solve the puzzle, you get Vance's best weapon in the game.

I guess Ivana could be right but then again equip what? I tried walking around that area in the hope of bumping into those special Escargotchas :P I also tried using that scroll which summons creatures but no luck. I even tried beating them with the Universalis scroll hoping against hope that an ordinary shell would turn into a fluorescent one :P :P It's supposed to be this very powerful scroll containing ancient and mystical magic but I feel its kinda lame.

Now that I think about it, how excited we were on finding all 5 parts, it's really a HUGE letdown :( What does it do anyways? It'doesn't teach you any skill as far as I know... is it meant solely for attacking?

Yup, that Grimorum Universalis is all hype and no show IMO. Just occassional mindblow is just not worth the effort of looking for it or even a good enough reason to have Kanna in your party for that matter :P Or maybe it has some special quality or something which we overlooked... Has anyone noticed anything unique about it? It seems too underwhelming to be honest.

Kanna = ... let me put it kindly. Not good or fun enough.

But I must admit that to make Kanna stronger and more fun, you need to change the battle system which is actually top-notch already, based on the RPG Maker's limits. I believe the developer had tried his very best, but in the end had to make Kanna weaker to balance the battles. Else, just spells and spells ...

Ermm, I hope you all get me, yah? no?

I'm in Pittsboro (the dessert town) right now and I'm looking for that little boy's magazine. Where can I find it? The reward is not that great or anything, just 10 GP, but I really want to do all the quests. Yeah, I'm the sort of gamer who completes all sidequests, explores all areas, beats all optional bosses, etc, etc to get true satisfaction lol

I've looked everywhere I could think of :(

@Cylian

Yup tbh, she's really... useless. There. I said it. I tried leveling up but she's still weak as hell. And when you attack, it uses mp! It's kinda ironic, don't you think? Coz near branchville, she seems all powerful but when she joins your party, she's actually weak! (Even weaker than Holly & Fayatte if I must say...)

Whew . . . finished the game and seems like mine also had a different twist. I have been reading the forum and seems that the game will end after defeating "Teachy the Discordian" or after defeating at least 4 Kibou.

Mine's ended after defeating Duke Greene (possessing Duke Salem) and from there the story continues on cut scenes, involving all the cast.

Does it end when Vance hunted the guy named Red Arrow? Just wondering. . .

Anyway, great game. Well at least it occupy most of my time while awaiting for the next release of AV3. . . still got 2 weeks in waiting.

The forum has been a great help and all members are trying to lend a helping hand if needed. . .

:D

P.S.: My favorite scene was the beauty pageant hosted by Manteo. . . . PRICELESS :hamster:

Uh...rightttt...

@Gwendolyn

Haha yeah that was the best scene ever xD

Actually, what we meant is after you defeat Teachey or any 4 KB lords, it will "end" and Duke Greene will possess you-know-who's body. :)

Hey guys! I found out something. :) (Not sure if any of you know yet...) I've returned to Elloree. Remember the early quest Lauren gave you to escort 2 people? I came back to check them out. It seems like the old guy finally knows how to create something called Phoenix Elixir. Kanna says even the Govan lost the secret recipe or something. But it costs 60 GP and 4 orange moss & ambrosias.

Your main aim should be to protect the 6 buildings at the docks. Any other bulding you protect from the pirate attack is just bonus (more loot :D ). In the first try I was a bit over-ambitious and tried to defend all the buildings which proved to be my downfall. So later I concentrated on just those 6 at the docks and managed fine. So I suggest you do the same, position your characters at the doors of those 6 bldgs, with 4 on the left and 2 right. The moment the pirates set a bldg on fire, go to it quickly and click to put off the fire. :)

@Ivana: Yeah, we alredy knew about that, I think cylian had mentioned it somewhere.

@All: Here's a little something for those who have finished the game (from our previous discussions).

SPOILER ALERT:

Catawba, the head priestess at the Tharshele Shrine, is actually the Duchess' mother!! :D

Remember that scene where Catawba explained why she had meddled with North's life by tricking him to believe that she was Cary to bring him happiness, she also said that she had done the same once before in her life and it had turned out quite well. Yup, Duke Salem was her previous target!

According to the cleaner in the shrine, the king actually met with the priestress at around the same time 6-7years ago. Which is also the timeline of the kings' counsel!

Manteo actually mentioned that Duke Salem slept with one of the KBT lords before, which pissed the Duchess off (but apparently its not a trick).

She is also one of the good KBTs, like the giant blue Slime. The funny thing is, she happens to be following the Candor teachings of making mankind better (by a utopia), and is actually actively involved (by "assisting" Salem). :)

Re Kanna, well... since Kanna is a mage she is supposed to be physically weak but her spells more than make up for it eg- Pacolet 3 spell can do a great deal of damage, around 250-300, which is a LOT in this game. You can defeat each of the KL's in ONE turn with it!! :D Her level 2 spells are quite effective too and don't require rare essences ;)

I agree that hunting for the ingredients can be quite a pain though. But the Reagents/Monsters list can come in very handy in such a case.

Kanna ... I had to agree because I thought the same way. If she can blast a whole battlefield to nothing, then why cant she hold her own fort?! But bUt buT, I blame the game battle system for its limitations more than anything.

In other games, they have hundreds, if not thousands, of HP, so things can balance out over a wider range, yah?

BBB (but but but), actually if I am the developer, I will do the exact same thing to Kanna. Maybe take away the ingredients entirely to accommodate fighter class players like cylian. ;)

And, yah, the Duchess' mummy is a pretty KBT. Initially, I thought she has good intentions as well. But later when I thought that the Duchess was raised to be the next figurehead for the Govan ...

hmmm ... to me, it explains why Greene said she was twisted. She does good (by lying), but the end result seems to be to evil in the end, in both cases.

I wanted to think she is like the giant blue slime though ... hmmm ... :S

P.S. Its amazing how we can remember most of the story even after some time. That is what I call a good game.
