Witchrot (RP)

Neko turned slightly to see Masana helping Gringe up. She had done some damage, sure. But the girl wouldn't had survived, had she challenged Neko. Unlike Masana, Neko had no sympathy anymore for those who didn't have intent to kill. She turned back and continued to walk off.

Anyone who wishes to kill must first realize they might be killed. She reminded herself, then stifled a laugh. She had done many things, and her life had never come close to ending.

"Fate has been a ***** to me." She growled.

((Neko! *slaps Neko* D=< Shame on you for cursing!!))

Gringe peered up at Masana for a moment, "That's fine I suppose. Why are people chasing after her? If you don't mind my asking." As she spoke, she set off a minor healing spell. Gringe couldn't return to her home to obtain her belongings with open wounds. Her family would mock at her for being weak, even if she did win the fight. Actually, she wasn't sure who won. She believed it was her at the very least.

For a second, she narrowed her eyes at Ren. "She doesn't seem the trouble-some type. Then again, I could be wrong," she thought. Gringe never went by appearances alone to judge someone. Well, normally she didn't.

"Her father is..." Masana frowned, searching for the right word. "A psychopath," he finally said. "He's abusive, twisted, and intent on making her life hell. He killed her family. He's made at least three attempts on her life. He uses her more distant family against her. That should give you an idea."

Masana hadn't exactly given it all fighting Gringe. After all, the girl couldn't be an apprentice if she were dead.

"I know spells that could not only kill you, but destroy you. I use them only when I have no other choice. Perhaps in time you will learn. Collect your belongings. I will meet you at the tavern."

With that--and the ever-popular snap of the cape--he swept off toward the inn.

As he passed Neko, he whispered, "I went easy on her."

"I figured that...Otherwise I wouldn't of zapped you head on, or was that just you not paying attention?" Gringe asked with a wide grin. Hearing his direct order, she shrugged and walked back to her home. She didn't bother staying to wait for her family before departing. They most likely would've insulted her, and that's one reason among many others why she didn't even leave a note. Taking a travel pack, she took some clothing, her coin purse, and a strange looking pendent shaped like a starfish. She also nabbed her Mom's healing supplies and sowing kit. It wasn't as if Gringe would have time to sow, but she figured she'd bring it just in case. The last thing she packed was food.

Using a small spell, she made the bag lighter so she could carry it around when walking. Now that everything was together, Gringe headed off to the Tavern. "Finally I can leave this wretched place," she stated excitedly. "I'll prove them all wrong...I'm not weak," Gringe murmured. She paused before in Tavern door. Great, what was that necromancers name gain? It was something funny sounding. "How am I supposed to find his room if I don't know how to say his blasted name right?!" she thought in annoyance.

Neko smirked. She knew he had gone easy on the child. She continued walking at a human pace, looking around. Soon, she sharply turned off the trail, and walked a good mile or two before she stopped in front of a hooded man.

"You're late." The man grumbled.

"Sorry, Gimyen. There were some...old friends, per say, I met up with." She replied.

"You are not here for reunions, Kat. You are here to meet up with the target and protect her." He grumbled again, his face remaining hidden under the cloak.

Neko crossed her arms. "You told me this was an assassination mission!" She growled.

"It is, partly. You are to aid the target in assassinating the suspect." He explained. "She's waiting in the Tavern, under the name of Yysha." He muttered, then disappeared.

Neko scoffed and walked off towards the Tavern. "Thanks. You're a real lifesaver." Neko hissed under her breath. She reached the Tavern soon, and found the target's room. She walked in without knocking, and saw a girl with white hair and black highlights.

The girl crossed her arms. "Why the hell can't you agent people learn to knock?" She hissed.

Neko shrugged. "Beats me. So, you're name isn't Yysha, am I right?" She assumed.

The girl hesitated, then held out her hand. "I'm Shikuo, nice to meet you...?"

Neko smirked mischievously. "Neko. Pleasure to meet you, Shikuo. I have a good feeling about this mission."

((Tei: You should remember me mentioning Shikuo in the vampire club thread. ;) ))

((XD neko, that's exactly what i thought XD))

Masana sat in a dark corner of the tavern, with Ren and a glass of a thick, black fluid. Even Ren had no idea what it was he was drinking. Masana himself had only a vague idea what it was. He didn't need human food. He had this.

"So, you like her?" Ren asked. Masana's stony silence could be irksome sometimes.

"That might be a little generous," he said. "But she does have talent."

((gotta go, but masana's lurking in a corner. god help you if you try to bite the girl, shikuo XD))

Gringe finally decided to enter and began looking around for Masana. Seeing Ren, she knew that he couldn't be too far away. While in the Tavern, she heard some witches murmur about her. Paying no attention to them, she found an area that was close to the couple, but not too close. She sat her bag at her feet with a hefty thump. It seemed heavy, but not to her. Gringe motioned one of workers over and requested a drink. The employer came back over with a thick purple juice. It smelled distinctly like various berries mashed together. Not used to striking up any conversation, she remained silent toward Masana and Ren. Well, aside from muttering a small thank you for accepting her as a apprentice.

((Shikuo: I'll have you know I'm an atheist.

Neko: ...And that's why I can't risk letting you meet Kami. =_=))

Shikuo smiled innocently. "Now, Neko-onee-chan, shall we go?" She giggled.

Neko nodded slightly and opened the door, freezing up. Shikuo looked at her curiously, her fake innocence still in play.

"What's wrong?" Shikuo asked.

Neko growled. "Damnit, this'll be hard. I just hope he isn't in the middle of the room." She noted to herself.

Shikuo tipped her head. "Who? One of your vampy friends?"

Neko turned to Shikuo. "Don't play dumb with me. I know full well that you're a vampire too. It's my job to know these things." She grumbled as she turned back and walked into the lobby, with Shikuo skipping after her.

Neko's eyes darted around as they walked. Shikuo was, thankfully, walking normally now, keeping close to Neko. The door seemed miles away due to Neko's slight panic. She had no idea if Masana had the ability to sense new vampires, and she didn't want anyone learning that she was a spy/assassin.

((I can't resist. *sins* Secret, agent vamp, secret, agent vamp!

Neko: =_= God help me.

Shikuo: *slaps Neko* Atheist! What part of atheist do you not understand?!))

Masana watched Gringe drop her bag on the table with a heavy "kerthunk." He raised his eyebrows. He didn't know a single woman who was a light traveler. The sheer amount of stuff Ren could fit in a small shoulder bag was amazing by any standards.

He suddenly gave a start. Undeath, he thought. He was so used to this aura by now that it almost escaped him. Vampire. Of course, he might just be paranoid--Neko was a vampire, after all.

But what if there were more?

Neko saw Masana give a start out of the corner of her eye, and grabbed Shikuo's hand.

"We have to get out of here now!" She hissed quietly. Shikuo looked surprised, but said nothing. Neko ran quickly out of the Tavern, and didn't stop until they were in an alley on the other side of town.

"What just happened?" Shikuo mumbled to herself.

"He almost found us..." Neko murmured in response, keeping an eye on the entrance to the alley.

Shikuo crossed her arms and made a pouty face. "I can use teleport magic, y'know." She growled.

Neko turned to her, her eyes harsh. "Shutup, girl! If you value your life, you'll learn that magic isn't a fail-safe solution to all your problems!" She hissed.

"It was just a suggestion..." Shikuo mumbled.

Gringe didn't seem all that concerned with the Undead. She could tell they were there while they spoke. Their fangs stuck out like sore thumb. Because she didn't really care about them, she turned around to finish her drink. It was common to find creatures of the night in Witchrot. The name of the village, for some reason, seemed to welcome vampires and other sorts of beings. Gringe would only see the vampiresses as a problem if they tried to bite her or her party.

Just to get this straight and done, Gringe didn't really care for her party. She just needed them, that's all. In order to move on in her traveling career she needed Masana and Ren's help. To help them was a simple return of slightly friendly gesture. To act friendly all the time toward them would mean being the laughing stock for other witches. Gringe already had social issues with the village, and she didn't want to add to those issues.

Her attention stirred away from the drink and onto Masana who still watched the area the vampires ran away from. "What? Have a problem with those two?" she asked with a raised brow. "Your not that surprised to see vampires here are you? They're a common thing here," she remarked.

"Not surprised, no. I live in Neras, need we say more? Vampires are more normal to me than humans. But the fact that they ran worries me." Masana drummed his fingers idly on his goblet, then picked it up and swirled the liquid inside. He then tossed back the remainder of the black stuff and stood up. Ren got up too.

"Where are we going?"

"I have no idea," Masana said. "But it would seem like back to Neras would be the best place, as it is where Guild Hall is."

*************************************************

Unnoticed by the others was a girl with green eyes and brown hair, and a boy with blue eyes and black hair. The boy was tapping a dagger on the table...and the girl was stroking the head of a small dragon.

Once finished with her order, Gringe stood up and quietly walked over to stand beside her two party members. She didn't really take any attention toward the girl with the dragon or the boy with the dagger. She'd stretch and tugg at her bag on her shoulder. Gringe did hear part of what was said, but her attention was slightly away from the remaining part.

"Neras and where?" she asked to clarify. "By the way, if your that jumpy on people following you around then giving where your headedin a public area is not the greatest thing. That's one reason people are able to follow you in the first place. If that many people are after you, then they most likely have someone keeping tabs," she informed with a faint smile. Gringe had a point in being useful, but sometimes her bluntness gets to everyone she encounters. She doesn't even appear to know her own fault in socialization.

((oh my fruit, i just had a brilliant idea for a direction that i'm capable of steering this is. i am SO doing that. :mwah: ))

"It's common knowledge anyways," he said. "Neras is on the continent of Vanisa Elitra. As to where that is, I suppose you'll see," Masana said.

"Or will you?" a voice asked. Masana whipped around, both knives drawn. The blue-eyed boy had gotten up and approached him. "Easy, Masana, we're friends."

"Do you know a dragon girl and a--whatever you are?" Ren asked, half to Masana, half to the newcomers.

"Perhaps not directly," the girl said. "The Eagle and the Hawk ring familiar?"

"Birds of prey?" Ren suggested.

"Yes," the boy said with a nod. "And they are also a famous team of assassins."

Masana hissed dangerously. "Step away."

"Relax!" the girl laughed. "We're on your side."

"My name is Kevice Wolfswift, and this is my stepsister, Elya Ravenwing," the boy said. "We work for Kiliara as much as you do, Masana."

Masana didn't relax. "Prove it," he said, protectively positioned in front of Ren. Kevice rolled his eyes.

"You're as jumpy as me," he said.

((all right, i have to go. will return!))

((Neko: *.* Elya-chan!!

Me: *holds Neko back* This is extremely embarassing.))

Shikuo rubbed her head as she looked back to the direction of the Tavern.

"That was weird. I'm getting a funny signal, too." She muttered.

Neko whipped around. "Signal?" She asked harshly.

Shikuo narrowed her eyes. "I'liosha." She muttered.

-----

A girl with black hair and purple bangs sat near Masana and company, drinking normal water. She looked at the conflict-in-action without turning her head. She smirked slightly. She loved battles. Though, it was likely this wouldn't turn into one, her imagination could take care of that. She giggled to herself as she asked for more water.

Shikuo-chan, you're more a fool than I thought. Teaming up with a vampire was your best shot? You thought that she would be of use? How cute your efforts are...

((I'liosha is an evil person, eh? ))

Gringe stared at the two newcomers curiously. Just like Masana, she didn't truly trust them. To be honest, Gringe didn't see anyone as trust worthy. No has shown her that gift, and she expects not to see it at all in her life time. Adjusting her bag, she took careful notice of where her staff lied which was not in her blouse like before. It was hooked on her bag, and was strangely the size of a keychain.

As Gringe continued to watch the two strangers, she couldn't help finding Kevice to be quite charming.

((XD Kevice is quite charming! XD floweraria has competition! ...wonder how she'll take that... XD))

"Okay," Elya said. The little dragon she was holding suddenly started flapping around, chattering. "Squee, calm down!"

"It has a name?" Ren asked.

"Yes, this is Squee," Kevice said, nimbly snatching Squee out of the air and putting it on his shoulder.

"They don't call you the Hawk for nothing," Masana noted.

"Well obviously. "I am the Eagle, I live in high country, in rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky. I am the Hawk, and there's blood on my feathers, but time is still turning and they soon will be dry." Old poem. There's more to it, but that's where the nicknames came from. Kind of the sixth and seventh Kiliara's Chosen, if you will," Kevice said. "So, what's Squee spazzing out about?"

"There's something here that he doesn't like," Elya said. "He's not sure exactly what though."

((side note: that "poem" kevice recited is actually a song. HERE look it up on youtube if you'd like to actually hear it))

I'liosha smiled slyly and stood up, walking away casually.

"Kiliara, eh? Hm, this can get interesting soon...I'll just have to get Shikuo back in." She giggled as she stepped out of the Tavern.

---

Shikuo turned back. "I think we should get going." She told Neko nervously.

Neko shrugged. "Nah. You go on ahead. Stay in the forest, away from the road. I've got some old friends that'll keep you safe." She muttered.

Shikuo looked at the trees. "No." She stated bluntly.

Neko growled. "Child, you'd be smart to just stay out of my way! Do you want this taken care of or not?!"

Shikuo shook her index finger at Neko as if she was a child. "Don't you remember? You're not supposed to just kill I'liosha, you're supposed to help me kill I'liosha."

Neko crossed her arms. "Fine. Whatever floats your boat, mortal."

They walked back quickly to the Tavern, hoping to not miss the chance to get I'liosha.

Gringe rolled her eyes as she heard Kevice recite some strange poetry. Not only were these people trying to smug their way into the group, they were annoying people that seemed to constantly chatter about nonsense.

"You said you were on their side, but what for? And, if I'm assuming correctly, all that muck about hawks indicates your an assassin. Your claiming to be a assassin against opposing assassins. Get to the point already on your objective," Gringe stated impatiently. She tapped her sharp nailed hands again her backpacks strap. Her scowl never changed.

Gringe glanced back at the dragon on Elya. It was causing a frenzy. Maybe it was because of her? Yeah, it better be bugging out. If it didn't shut up soon, Gringe would most certainly cast a silence spell.

Kevice chuckled. "Not only did I indicate it by revealing that they call me "The Hawk," but we came right out and said it."

"When they say that they're on our side, they mean that they aren't working for my father," Ren said.

"If they claim to be Kiliara's Chosen, and Kiliara herself is not protesting, then rest assured that it's true," Masana said. "I'll call Kiliara to back it up if need be."

"Squee, hush," Elya said, clamping her hand over the little dragon's mouth. "Stop fussing, or give me a straight answer. Slis ahr vrain?"

"That was Draconic," Kevice clarified. "She asked what's wrong."

((ah, have to go. I'liosha, tread cautiously XD))

((oh right, i forgot that Neko and Elya have met too XD))

((I'liosha: You'd be smart to tread with care much more than me, mortal.

Me: Shh! If you keep talking like that, you'll give away unnecessary character development meant for later. >.>))

I'liosha smiled as she sensed Shikuo and another come near. She walked back into the Tavern, having one piece of knowledge on her side: They couldn't afford to kill her in a public place, as they would reveal themselves.

Neko cursed when she saw I'liosha enter the Tavern. Shikuo, however, simply walked in.

"W-wait! Idiot kid!" She hissed, and ran after Shikuo. She entered the Tavern warily, Shikuo right in front of her.

"I don't see her...damned woman. She continues to escape." Shikuo muttered, scanning the Tavern.

Neko was looking around for Masana and Ren, and saw them talking to two others and a dragon. She stepped away from them and into the other side of the Tavern. Shikuo hissed as Neko dragged her.

"What the hell?! I was looking for her!" She muttered.

Neko turned to Shikuo. "How stupid are you?! No wonder you need help with this! First things first, you don't blabber out your species by hissing! Second, you do not look for a target at an entrance where the target will have an easy time of spotting you!" She harshly said.

Shikuo looked at her shoulder. "Sheesh. Could've been a little nicer." She muttered.

Gringe still had no idea what to make of the situation. She didn't understand anything about what the group meant by Kiliara's Chosen. She figured it was their version of some god. If that's the case, geez they're religious people. Gringe was fine with religion and all that, but talking on about it non stop got to her. There were appropriate times then there were not so appropriate times. This was one of the not appropriate times. Seeing that they'd still be staying the Tavern, she settled back down into a chair."How far is Neras?" Gringe inquired. If it was three or fours days to get there, she'd use her broom for travel.
