haha, its amazing isn't it? having records like that..

i mean, based on documents, etc, our country is improving.. but i have to say that..well, its complicated

for example.. the documents say we improved THAT much, but it doesn't really reflect what the people are suffering. they say the economy improved but not everyone, especially the poor people who needs development the most, can feel the progress they are indicating.

@theone: I'm one of those who want to leave the Philippines. There is no appropriate job for everyone and the taxes that people pay doesn't seem to come back to us. Also, the labor cost is too cheap! You'll work all day long and they'll give you an equivalent of 5 US dollars at most. Hmpf!

 

@mariedan: Where exactly in the Philippines are you? I'm from the province of Cavite..

in my country, natural disaster are storm, flood, earthquake, volcano eruption,,but something like tornado is very rare, if there be just very small,,

Awesome country, lots and lots of rain, chilly,

No goverment for more then 200 days now, priests doing indecent stuff with little boys (over 200 confessments this year).

 

Well, we're not perfect of course: we also have beer, chocolate, french fries (we invented it not the french, and anyone who says otherwise will be frenched (cut in little pieces) by my potato frencher!), brussels sprouts, the cartamundi cards used in all casino's over the world, and bla bla blablabla

Ah yannes - no place is perfect. And no person is perfect, which is a great consolation to me! We can only hope that the people we give power to are as wise as we want them to be, whether they are clergy or governments. Despite the disappointments it is important to remian hopeful.

I'm from the Philippines too, and I saw Stardale's warning about going to the Philippines and stuff. (page 19?) I'm from Makati City, not very far from where he lives, but I have to disagree about some of the things he said. Of course, it's been what, 3 years, since he posted that so a lot has changed, really. For the better or worse, no one knows yet, but still... Compared to other parts of Asia, our country's a relatively more peaceful place to live in now. If I could describe the Philippines in one word, I'd choose "diverse", because one could not really experience the country by just staying in one place. It's the ethnic and cultural diversity that makes it unique. That's actually why we don't have a solid sense of identity as one nation, in my opinion. I'd recommend those who have the resources to go and visit the Philippines if they want a real exotic experience.
