Seraphina Report post Posted August 5, 2010 Personally, I think many Anime writers are heading towards eternal damnation, (no, I'm not talking about that cool, hot place) Seriously. Lolita? Tentacle porn? http://www.cracked.com/article_18655_9-beloved-characters-made-horrifying-by-japan_p1.html there are two pages. Be horrified. PS: I'm just kidding about the eternal damnation bit. But some anime does make me wince. And KTC, I know you're not hating the Christians. But in my opinion, it's perfectly fine to poke fun at those wacky evangelicals. (and I'm a Christian, myself. So there)
CrimsonRedSky Report post Posted August 5, 2010 @Seraphina Japanese Culture differs from ours (or yours). You need to be careful what you get in too. Some Japanese people are disgusted with their culture, but still..
DragonFanGirl Report post Posted August 5, 2010 Well...we all know that just because something is called 'art' is is not necessarily pretty or inspiring to everyone! I fell in love with anime because of Final Fantasy games that I became hooked on (I am a freak for them, have played and beaten all except for the online game) and I absolutely loved the classic move 'Nausica' or as it was originally known here in the usa in the late 1980's "Warrior of the Winds'. I simply fell in love with the high quality of the animation and the story line combined with great music. Now I love Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and you get the picture. I am too old and have seen too much of real life to be either thrilled or horrified by any yaoi or other 'porn' anime. I simply see each for the value of the story line. If there is no value other than shock value well then it has no value. The swedish move 'Metropopia' was like watching a train wreck. I couldn't look away, but I hated watching it so there must have been something that moved me there. It is a movie that I do not recommend for young people because of the graphic content, but it depicts a world reminiscent of Orwell's classic book '1984' where mind control and 'big-brother' control society. KTC Report post Posted August 7, 2010 @seraphina: lolita: what's wrong with the historical/gothic looking appearance? O_o? This doesn't look bad. And this pic from Chobits looks pretty imo. Or do I got the wrong lolita? o.o? As for the page: Wat is alucard doing on that list?! He's awesome! D:< Sounds like that person didn't even read it and only skimmed the manga/anime D:< Miyuki: It's crack. Yuri tease crack. Did they expect logic? (And for the record, I though it was good crack material from CLAMP considering they work mostly the BL/straight part of the spectrum lol) The only ones that was horrifying was Teenager mutant turtles. Wat is that? O_o! @connie: oo, another nausicaa fan Have you read the manga?
DragonFanGirl Report post Posted August 7, 2010 @ktc- oddly enough though I have quite a lot of manga I only have one issue of Nausicaa, and that was a gift from a friend many years ago. I tend to watch Anime or Cartoon Network when i am bored since I don't have to worry if something is age appropriate when there are no grandkids around. KTC Report post Posted August 7, 2010 @connie: Nausicaa: O_O! Read it! XD *ahem* I mean I highly recommend the manga series. >.> Granted, there's major differences between the manga and movie since the movie was made before the manga was completed, but the manga rocks */ends fanboying and offtopicking*

D.Funky Report post Posted August 7, 2010 Im a christian and i dont really oppose anime. Maybe its just those that insult our doctrine that we hate. Afterall, anime is quite colorful, artistic which is lovely, rite?

TrueShadow Report post Posted August 8, 2010 @KTC I think Seraphina's talking about lolicon (lolita complex, basically attracted to little girls), especially with the way she said 'tentacle porn' after that.
mariedan11 Report post Posted August 8, 2010 ahem. uh. i can't blame some if they say anime is a sin. i mean, we had to admit, they make hentai (?) (not sure if this was the term, but you know the nude-y pictures of animes), so it triggers lust, and lust is a sin..? okay, but over-all i think it depends on the anime. its still not right to address "anime" as a sin as a whole since there are many animes.. (i dont think if im making a point here, hehe) i happen ton like animes to, and even though im a Christian Catholic, im not against them (except for those eewey ones) (sorry, its a bit long, guess i was just um, so much into the topic )
CrimsonRedSky Report post Posted August 8, 2010 @KTC I think Seraphina meant Lolita Complex, not the Lolita Style. But anyways, some anime DOES creep me out, but that's why I avoid it at all costs.
D.Funky Report post Posted August 8, 2010 yeh, anime could be creepy, @omegagaruru, hi, i'm back!
Seraphina Report post Posted August 10, 2010 Hey guys, sorry for the misunderstanding. I live in Asia, and while I think anime for the most party is ultra cool, there are some ... let's say, darker sides to the art genre too. I guess that's true of all kinds of art, anime seems even worse when it goes bad, because it's originally very 2D and almost ... child-oriented, if you know what I mean. Anyway, yeah. Not trying to judge anyone or anything. And by the Lolita, KTC, I meant novel-Lolita made into something 'pure'. That was really ... yeah, disturbing. nicnikkiz Report post Posted August 14, 2010 Pokemon apparently means 'pocket demon'. Is this bad? Yes, it is. Will you go to hell? No, the word Hell is English for the Greek word Hades, and the Hebrew word Sheol - Man-kinds common grave. Would a just God punish you for an eternity for a short lifetime of sins? Though the bible is specific on God's ways and thoughts and we should abide by them, after all he did create us.

Omega-Metalgaruru Report post Posted August 14, 2010 I had a idea Im surprised on what she had to say I guess your the only one lost
KTC Report post Posted August 14, 2010 K than what is she saying? Here's what I got: pokemon= pocket demons = bad= sinful (wat? first off, it's pocket monsters, not pocket demons. Second, how is watching a bunch of kids going around catching monsters with balls sinful? It's not even blasting God or converting people to the dark side.) But: watching pokemon =/= go to hell since hell ia place where everyone goes anyway ie mankind's common grave. (Eh?) "Would a just God punish you for an eternity for a short lifetime of sins?" ^um, yes? Cuz that is what most hells' for, eternal punishment for mistakes made in one lifetime. And than something about the bible being what we should follow. (though practically all people does not follow the bible word for word.) And she's(?) only addressing Pokemon, which is only one of a vast number of anime in existence. And its a fairly innocent one compared to Akira or Berserk. So if pokemon is sinful, than watching Berserk/hentai has to be like a mortal sin? lol.
Omega-Metalgaruru Report post Posted August 14, 2010 ...Sheesh you rather off KTC :/ anyway. ask her and maybe she can explain

KTC Report post Posted August 15, 2010 @omega: how am I off? I am interpreting the post as is, which is a mess of ideas that together doesn't make sense at all. @lovinlife: lol.
Seraphina Report post Posted August 16, 2010 Hmmmm. I watched Pokemon as a kid on TV with my cousins 24/7. As far as I know I haven't gone around committing crimes because of it, nor have I become emotionally scarred. Maybe 'sin' needs to be put into two categories: 1. Real sin - as in, actually doing something bad. 2. Perceived sin. What other people think. What is open to debate. I'm not even sure anime would fall into this category. Anime is more like --- guilty pleasure, hehehe
DragonFanGirl Report post Posted August 16, 2010 @ Seraphina - I was so worried that you had become an axe-murderer from all that pokemon...
